In particular, she assists her clients on their outsourcing and digital transformation projects as well as on their issues relating to IA, cloud computing or the Internet of Things as well as in their compliance with regard to personal data.
Nathalie has developed widely recognised expertise in privacy and data protection, backed by 25 years of experience as a legal adviser to the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL), followed by senior roles as Data Protection Officer within a leading French banking group and an international law firm.
She advises French and international companies, as well as public institutions, on the design and implementation of comprehensive privacy and data protection compliance strategies. Her areas of practice include audits, feasibility studies, assistance during CNIL inspections and sanction procedures, support to Data Protection Officers, execution of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) and Transfer Impact Assessments (TIA), drafting of internal policies and guidelines, implementation of Binding Corporate Rules (BCR), and compliance with AI regulations.
She is the author of a leading reference book on personal data protection law and regularly contributes scholarly articles to specialised legal journals.
Nana has expertise in data protection law which builds on more than 10 years of professional experience notably within the French data protection authority (CNIL) and the dedicated data protection and privacy department of an international law firm.
She assists clients of the law firm, companies or public organizations, on any issues relating to data protection law in France and globally (drafting of policies and procedures, audits and privacy impact assessments (PIA), contractual framing, BCRs, codes of conduct, IA regulation compliance, responses in case of requests or complaints from data subject rights, compliance with specific requirements for international data transfers). Her practice also covers advising on contractual and regulatory aspects relating to the implementation of IT projects or applications.
Nana is a lecturer at the University of Paris and Paris II Panthéon Assas. She holds the CIPP/E and is the author of several articles relating to IT and data protection law.
Maria Chiara advises both French and international clients on IT and data law.
Drawing on her experience in companies and law firms in France and Italy, she supports organisations on technology law matters.
Her practice covers the drafting of compliance documentation—including data processing agreements, privacy policies, and data protection impact assessments—as well as the negotiation of IT projects such as software integration and development, outsourcing, SaaS, and licensing agreements. She provides guidance on the application of French and European data law, including the GDPR, the Digital Services Act, and the AI Act.
She holds two Master II degrees from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University: one in Data Law, Digital Administration and Open Government and another in International Law.
Before joining Idea, she gained experience through several internships in French and Italian law firms specializing in IT and data protection, and also served as in-house legal counsel for an Italian hospital.
She works fluently in French, English, and Italian.
